The complete course of development of an athlete from an active childhood to becoming a top athlete is taken into account at the Oulu Region Academy of Sport. The training programme is based on scientifically researched phases of development of children and youths.

Training quotas according to age group:
11–13 years 6–9 hours / week (4–6 sessions / week)
14–16 years 9–12 hours / week (6–8 sessions / week)
17–19 years 13–20 hours / week (8–12 sessions / week)
20+ years 18 + hours / week (twice daily)
By Pro-services are meant all services directed at the training of professionals
Athletes that are invited to the Academy receive a card
which entitles them to the use without charge of training facilities owned
by the City of Oulu. Card holders also have the right without charge to
the following Pro-services:
1. Training activity that accords with the training plan and weekly
programme.
OSUA offers the athlete training assistance by a
professional trainer and at the same time monitoring of training progress.
The athletes have at their disposal facilities/training
equipment owned by OSUA.
2. Testing arrangements
OSUA offers the athlete testing modules in cooperation
with the Oulu Deaconess Institute (ODL) by means of which the athlete can
chart muscle balance, measure strength, measure
oxygen intake potential. Through ODL, OSUA offers the athlete laboratory
analyses prescribed by doctors.
3. The services of a physician
ODL’s sports medicine clinic and OSUA are
engaged in cooperation. Athletes have the possibility of a speedy appointment
with a specialist and thereby obtain the help of
an expert without having to queue.
4. Nutrition services
OSUA is able to offer education and information
concerning nutrition in conjunction with ODL.
5. General lectures
OSUA arranges for its athletes free lectures on
e.g. sports injuries as well as annual lectures on antidoping.
6. Personal education and studies plan HOVS, trainers also participate
in the preparation of HOVS.

Furthermore, the athlete is entitled to receive muscle
care at a reasonable price, generally without having to wait, and also a
considerable reduction on the prices of PUMA
sports equipment and clothes.
